{"id":48097,"date":"2024-08-14T11:29:45","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T10:29:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bodyshopmag.com\/?p=48097"},"modified":"2024-08-14T11:29:45","modified_gmt":"2024-08-14T10:29:45","slug":"smr-costs-for-evs-cheaper-than-hybrids-and-ice-models","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bodyshopmag.com\/2024\/news\/smr-costs-for-evs-cheaper-than-hybrids-and-ice-models\/","title":{"rendered":"SMR costs for EVs cheaper than hybrids and ICE models"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Analysis of new data has found that service, maintenance and repair (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bodyshopmag.com\/?s=smr\">SMR<\/a>) costs for electric vehicles are significantly cheaper than for comparable hybrid and ICE models.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epyx.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Epyx<\/a>, average SMR costs for EVs in the first year are \u00a3141 compared to \u00a3195 for hybrids and \u00a3199 for ICE models.<\/p>\n<p>In year two SMR costs rise to \u00a3174 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bodyshopmag.com\/?s=electric\">EVs<\/a> compared to \u00a3266 for hybrids and \u00a3290 for ICE, while in year three it increases to \u00a3221 for EVs, \u00a3341 for hybrids and \u00a3401 for ICE vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, average annual garage visits for EVs are 1.13, 1.18 and 1.36 over the first three years. For hybrids it is 1.17, 1.29 and 1.53 and for ICE models it is 1.21, 1.31 and 1.53.<\/p>\n<h2>SMR costs for EVs<\/h2>\n<p>Tim Meadows, chief operating officer at Epyx, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe\u2019ve previously released SMR data about EVs and it was quite inconclusive, largely because the number on our database was still very low and not really sufficient to build up a consistent picture. However, we now have something like 409,560 EVs on the platform, which provides a much-improved impression.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He continued: \u201cWhat we are seeing is both noticeably lower running costs and numbers of garage visits for EVs compared to both hybrids and ICE vehicles.
