Nearly a third of drivers have skipped an annual car service, with cost the most common reason.<\/p>\n
According to a survey of more than 1,000 drivers carried out by FixMyCar<\/a>, 31% said they had ignored a scheduled service.<\/p>\n The data found that 14.3%\u00a0cited expense<\/a> as the main reason, 10.9%\u00a0felt their car did not need a service, 9.3%\u00a0were unaware cars should be serviced annually, and 7.6%\u00a0believed a recent MOT was sufficient.<\/p>\n The average quoted price for core services<\/a> has risen seven per cent in the last year, according to FixMyCar\u2019s Making Tracks<\/a> report.<\/p>\n Matt Wrankmore, head of garage network at FixMyCar, said: \u201cOur poll shows that many drivers do not fully understand the difference between MOTs and servicing, or the importance of regular maintenance. We also know that the different types of services available can confuse drivers.<\/p>\n \u201cInterim services, full services and even major services are all valid options. The difference between them is how comprehensive the service is, with an interim service being at the lower end of this and a major service being the most thorough and comprehensive of the three.<\/p>\n \u201cIn most cases, an annual full service will be sufficient.
